Borno-Bondhu: A Step Towards Joyful Learning
A society is not transformed through universities alone. True transformation begins when a child learns to recognise a letter, pronounce a word, and explore the world through language. Every alphabet becomes a doorway to knowledge, confidence, and a brighter future.
With this vision, BASE Foundation proudly released “Borno-Bondhu” (বর্ণবন্ধু), a Bengali alphabet learning book designed to make language learning joyful, meaningful, and accessible for young children.
The book was officially unveiled by the Honourable Sayyid Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal, Chancellor of Darul Huda Islamic University, Kerala, and ceremonially handed over to Ibrahim Haji, a prominent businessman and well-wisher of the university.
The memorable occasion took place during the inauguration ceremony of the DH West Bengal Girls' Campus, in the presence of several distinguished personalities from Kerala and West Bengal, including:
Dr. Bahauddin Muhammad Nadwi, Vice Chancellor, Darul Huda Islamic University
Prof. Dr. Rafikul Islam, Vice Chancellor, Aliah University
Adv. Haris Beeran, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha
Ahamed Hasan, Chairman, West Bengal Minorities’ Commission and Editor of Puber Kolom
Sabir Siddhartha Gaffar, Member, West Bengal Public Service Commission
U. Shafi Haji, General Secretary, Darul Huda Islamic University
This initiative became possible through collective dedication and teamwork. Special appreciation goes to Nairul Sk, former Program Coordinator of BASE Foundation, whose vision and leadership initiated this project. We also acknowledge the guidance and support of Abdul Nafih Hudawi, Director, and Rajib Shaikh, Program Coordinator of BASE Foundation.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Sher Muhammad, Piyarul Islam, Kamiruddin SK, Shahim Reza, Nasim Sk, Nasim Akthar, and Zakir Hussain for their valuable contributions to writing, designing, editing, and preparing the book.
For BASE Foundation, Borno-Bondhu is more than an alphabet book; it is a small but meaningful step towards strengthening foundational literacy and nurturing young minds.
