Base Foundation Launches "Map Bengal" Project to Empower Marginalized Students

As part of its new initiative, Base Foundation has launched a transformative project titled "Map Bengal." On behalf of the Core Authority of Base Foundation, Program Coordinators Nairul SK and Kamaruddin Sk (Darul Fouz) visited Nayagram High School to mark the beginning of this initiative. During the visit, Base representatives engaged in a meaningful dialogue with Nayagram's Public Address Officer, Alamin Sir, the school secretary, and other key members of the school administration.

Through this interaction, Base Foundation discovered that numerous students—both girls and boys possess ambitious goals and dreams but lack the necessary guidance to achieve them. Many are unaware of the steps required to pursue their aspirations. One student from the 11th Standard expressed her dream of becoming an astute lawyer but, when asked how she planned to achieve it, responded, “We don’t know because there is no one to guide us.”

In response, Base Foundation held further discussions with the school authorities to address key issues concerning the syllabus, teaching methodologies, and career orientation. Recognizing the urgent need for intervention, the Foundation officially launched "Map Bengal" to bridge this knowledge gap and guide students toward their career goals.

"Map Bengal" is a project specifically designed for students who are often administratively marginalized and overlooked. The initiative targets students from classes 9 to 12, aiming to collect data about their academic goals and aspirations. After successful data collection, the students will be categorized according to their desired career paths. Each category will then receive tailored vocational training, mentorship, and career guidance sessions two to three times a month.

“This project is unlike anything any other NGO has attempted in this neglected region. Our wholehearted collaboration and support will always be with the Base Foundation,” remarked Alamin Sir.
